Kat has written extensively for a variety of outlets, including academic journals, mainstream media, and policy papers for governmental and non-governmental agencies. Her work has been featured in a number of publications, including The Washington Post, The NZ Herald, Foreign Affairs, The Conversation, Newsroom, and openDemocracy.

Kat is currently writing a book exploring the themes of identity, displacement, resettlement, and belonging. Following the story of her escape from Iran with her family and growing up in Aotearoa, Kat reflects on the multi-faceted and complex dynamics of spirituality and faith, multiculturalism, refuge, gender, and minority politics.
